Is this real? I've got about half a dozen old CD ROM drives sitting in the warehouse.
Very tempted to try this.
If only MacGuyver was still around these days - He'd have made something like this.

It's definitely real. I've seen it done!
It's probably easier to buy a green lazer off Ebay though. They're quite cheap and you can chop through fruit and pop balloons etc. You can also see the beam without the use of fog or smoke etc (hence you see a lot of green lazers in nightclubs)
